FAQs about the New Continuation Courses

What are Continuation Courses?

Do non-degree or temporary students need to register for Continuation Courses?
Non-degree and temporary students do not have to register for Continuation Courses.

Do international students need to register for Continuation Courses?
International students must be full-time students each term. International students who are not registered for enough credits to maintain their full-time status must register for a Continuation Course.

How do I register for a Continuation Course?

Only students who are planning to graduate in August must register for a Continuation Course over the summer.  According to the Continuous Enrollment policy, graduating students must maintain active student status for the term they are graduating.

What happens if I do not sign up for the necessary Continuation Courses?
Six weeks into the academic term, students who are not registered for any courses will be discontinued (i.e., no longer considered active students).  Discontinuation involves loss of library and recreation center privileges, etc.  In order to become an active student again, discontinued students must gain re-admission permission from their department as well as pay a $100 fee to the Graduate School.
