A graduate assistant (GA) carries out a combination of activities
associated with faculty research studies and/or teaching support
and duties that are assigned by their department. Most GAs are
assigned for fall and spring semesters. GAs receive 10-month stipends
and full tuition scholarships for their work.
Stipends start at $12,820. In addition up to 18 credits
of tuition scholarship are offered.
Many master's and doctoral programs offer GAs.
Students must be admitted
to degree programs by the date of the application deadline, and
be registered full-time during their award terms. Additional outside
employment is not allowed. Complete rules and guidelines for graduate
assistants can be viewed at www.grad.mu.edu/forms.
New applicants for admission
should apply
online through the Graduate School Application for Admission
and Financial Aid by the appropriate deadline.
Admitted students should
request and submit a paper application or apply
online by February 15 for fall, or November 15 for spring.
The Graduate School does not offer assistantships during summer
terms.
